A memorial service for Sammy Jean Winkle will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah.

Sammy Jean Winkle was born July 16, 1936, in McLean, Texas. She passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, in Talihina at the age of 80.

Mrs. Winkle had been a longtime resident of the Okemah area. She and Gene Hill were married in April of 1955. Later, she married Ronnie Dean Winkle on Feb. 14, 1980. He preceded her in death, April 6, 2011. Mrs. Winkle was a retired school teacher having taught for 37 years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Allean Walker and her first husband, Gene Hill.

Survivors include her two daughters, Judith Hill Evans of Talihina, Oklahoma and Susan Hill of Edmond; two stepsons, David Winkle and wife Cheryl of Wylie, Texas, and Chris Winkle of Okemah; one sister, Patricia Watts of Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, and officiated by Rev. Jack Vance.
