With a Shawnee Middle School student reportedly hospitalized on Friday, counselors from Shawnee High School were available to assist students at the middle school Friday, the district's superintendent said.
Dr. April Grace, who said there was an incident after school at a student's home on Thursday, said the student was in stable condition at last check Friday night.
Students that may have been upset were allowed to checkout of school on Friday, she said.
“We sent out a message with crisis hotline information in case anyone would need it over the weekend,” she added. “We will continue to have counselors available as needed next week. Our staff is a very caring group of individuals and we will continue to be supportive to both our students and this particular family.”
