Jerry Ann Lakin Knox, 73, of Shawnee, went to be with the Lord Feb. 12, 2017.

She was born Jan. 31, 1944, at Old Shawnee Municipal Hospital to Thomas and Essie Laura “Jerry” Lakin.

She attended Harrison Grade School and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1962.

She married Charles B. Knox and had two children, Charles Lynn and Barbara Ann. Jerry was a wife, mother and homemaker until both children were in school. She went to work in 1970 for Floyd Henson and John L. Green and later Silas Wolfe, Genny Henson and Charles Laster. She worked for one year for Al and Randy Parsons and Joe Rick Parsons; then 14 years for Miller, Peters, Diamond and Stuart. She worked for Nance Diamond with CASA and Oklahoma Community Institute. In 1997, she went to work for the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, eight years for Tribal Atty and then for secretary of the tribe until her retirement in May 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles B. Knox; younger brother, Tommy Lee Lakin and special friend, Don Carver.

She is survived by her children: Charles Lynn and Barbara and husband, Monty Garner; grandchildren: Nichole Knox, Jennifer Garner, Andy Garner, and Baylee Knox; great-grandchildren: Evie, Jacob, Lily Grace, and Walter; brother, Larry Don Lakin and spouse, Claudie Hargrave; uncle, Charlie New; cousin, Tim New; brother-in-law, Tony Knox and wife, Elva Jean; and long-time best friend and companion, Darrell Barnes.

A private family graveside will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Good Shephard Hospice.
