LaJuan Hendrix, 76, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, in Shawnee.

She was born July 2, 1940, in Bennington to James Alvin and Viola (Briggs) Beaty.

LaJuan was raised in Bennington, where she attended Bennington Public Schools. She moved to Tecumseh in the 1970s where she has since lived.

LaJuan was a nurse at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee and retired from Hillcrest Home Health.

She was a member of the Oklahoma Nursing Association. LaJuan loved being a nurse and caring for people. She enjoyed going to the beauty shop, dancing, playing dominos and poker, and watching the CMA Awards. LaJuan had a passion for her family and friends. She loved her kids and grandkids very much; they were the focal point of her life.

She was preceded in death by parents; grandson, Douglass Gene Lupton; four brothers; and two sisters.

LaJuan is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Thelma and Steve Strong of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sandra Tigner of Shawnee, and LaDenna Tigner of Shawnee; one son, Danny Tigner of Shawnee; six grandchildren, Aaron Phillips, Terra Frair, Dylan Tigner, Leslie Tigner, Kyle Tigner and Amy Tigner; six great-grandchildren; former husband, Billy Gene Hendrix of Tecumseh; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, with family gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 19.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee with her nephew, Reverend Dennis Neal, officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
