The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a creek bed Wednesday is now jailed on a DUI complaint.

A local resident at the scene said his 911 call at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday afternoon alerted emergency responders that a Dodge Ram 1500 truck had left the roadway on the 1200 block of East Margaret Street and crashed into the gully — landing on its side.

According to Shawnee Police Department reports, the alleged driver, Angela Kaye Alexander, 45, lives on the same block where the incident took place.

Alexander was taken to St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital, where she received treatment for a laceration on her arm, the report states. She was then arrested and taken into custody on a complaint of driving under the influence.

Alexander was jailed in Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center on a $1,500 bond; formal charges have not been filed.

SPD Cpl. Greg Van Brunt reported that Alexander was unable to complete a field sobriety test at the scene.

Bunk's Wrecker Service was able to pull the vehicle only partially out of the creek bed before having to leave the scene to retrieve another truck to finish the job.
