Margie Hackett, 83, of Tecumseh, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, in Tecumseh.

She was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Wanette to William J and Effie (Blivins) Hopkins.

Margie was born and raised in the Wanette area and attended Wanette schools.

She married John Hackett on June 29, 1951, in Oklahoma City. After marriage they moved south of Tecumseh in 1952 and have resided there since.

Margie spent her life alongside her husband as a farmer’s wife, doing whatever was needed with farming and ranching. She worked in the fields and raked hay, all while raising her children and grandchildren. Whenever time allowed she enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and cooking. She also loved working in her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nancy Walker; son in law, Lloyd Walker; grandson, John Walker; sisters, Laverne Hickman, Ruth Malicoat, and Edith Higgins; and brother, Roy Hopkins.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John of the home; daughter, Sheila and Steve Walker of Tecumseh; granddaughter, Felicia and Jon Brown of Chickasha; grandsons, Dusty and Megan Walker and Cheyenne and Taylor Walker, all of Tecumseh; great-grandchildren, Derek Brown, Garrett Brown, Zack Walker, Zoie Walker and Lane Walker.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m., Friday, July 21, and continue through service time.

Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brandon Johnson of Northridge Church of Christ, Shawnee, officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
