Thomas Earl Young, 85, of Valley View, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Gainesville, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Thomas Earl Young, 85, of Valley View, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Gainesville, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1931, to Robert Oscar and Dicie Ludy (Adams) Young in Spencerville, Oklahoma. Earl was raised in Sawyer, Oklahoma, and attended Sawyer and Ft. Towson Public Schools.

He married Ann Marie Cole Young on Jan. 2, 1976, in Crawford, Arkansas.

Earl was drafted into the United States Army in April 1954 and then worked as a bricklayer and later he received his real estate license and opened and operated a real estate office in Arlington, Texas, for 20 years.

He was a member of the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma, for many years and later the First Baptist Church. Earl loved God and his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dicie Young; step-son, Ron Cole Jr.; granddaughter, Alysia Rowe; great-grandson, Michael Tobias Bell; four brothers, Robert Oscar Young Jr., William Calvin Young, Virgil Ray Young and Vernon Loyd “Pete” Young.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Ann Young of Valley View, Texas; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Marsha and Dennis Bullock of Shawnee, Marilyn and Danny Gordon of Shawnee, Mary Jean and Charles Rowe of McLoud, and Monica Yoder of Earlsboro; two step-children, Tammie Mathis and Robert Cole; grandchildren, Ron Cole III, Alicen Cole, Robert Cole II, Ridge Cole, Karly Cole, Tabitha Petrasek, Brandy Miller, Mandi and Jon Wells, Miranda and Tim Outon, Chance and Tori Yoder, Lucas and Valerie Bullock, Darcie Gordon, Tiffany Rowe, and Derek Rowe; 14 great-grandchildren, Mylee Wells, Hadley Outon, Madison Yoder, Royce Bullock, Mackinzie Yoder, Dalton Yoder, Sophia Rowe, Maddox Rowe, Christian Rowe and Caleb Outon; one sister, Charlene Thomas of Shawnee; one brother, James Young of Harrah; and numerous extended family and friends.

His service will be on Monday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee with Reverend Mike McCauley officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.
