Longtime Tecumseh resident George “John” Schwegman Jr., 72, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Longtime Tecumseh resident George “John” Schwegman Jr., 72, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to George Schwegman Sr. and Lila Louise (Harper) Schwegman.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He married Donna May Clifton on Jan. 14, 1986, in Tecumseh. John retired from Belshe Trailers in Tecumseh after 37 years.

John was a wonderful painter and many of his painting are hanging in his families homes. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, spending time outside, and traveling when he got a chance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Schwegman; parents; and sister, Terry Powell.

He is survived by his children, Krystal and John Schlottman, Jerry and DeeDee Morrison, and Jennie Hyden; grandchildren, Clayton, Dylan, and Emily Schlottman, Jerry Ray and Ryan Morrison, Joshua and Nick Causey, Nichole, Jennifer, and Sandra Hyden; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Naugle and Ned Sr.; nieces and nephews, Candy Rhodes, Johnny S. Thomas, and William W. Thomas.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Eric Campbell officiating. Inurnment will follow.
