“Our ‘Husbands and Wives’ are as different as two peas in a pod,” says Douglas Gordon, curator at Studio112 and a half. “Our July show will be focusing on the difference in art styles between two couples; Rick and Alisha Weston and Holly and Douglas Gordon.
Rick and Alisha Weston are a husband and wife team of artists; each having their own distinct style of art and each inspiring and encouraging their equal half. Rick Weston has been steadfast in his rise to becoming a most recognizable figure in the art community. Whether it's his sorrowful protagonist 'Ivan' or the malicious 'Scarlett,' Rick's characters have made their way into people's hearts and walls with his art. His start as a budding cartoonist began as early as he could hold pen to paper.
Alisha Weston (Franks) was born and raised in Oklahoma and has had a yearning to create art since she was a very young girl. She likes to diverse herself in many different talents to keep her mind sharp and share her heart. She now is exposing her talents to the world through illustrating her feel good and amazing art. In 2016, Alisha released her self published children's book 'Animal ABC's' with a worldwide distribution.
Douglas and Holly Gordon are both curators of the studio and artists and each of them have different styles and they continue to develop their styles. This will be Holly’s first featured artist showing.
The celebrations will kick off on Saturday, August 5 , at 112 ½ E. Main in Shawnee, with an Artist Reception between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The art will be on display until the 20th of August.
Studio 112 and a half is a working art studio and gallery dedicated to providing display and working space to both established and emerging artists in Oklahoma and beyond. “We encourage local and Oklahoma wide artists to come and enjoy this little bit of creative space and be inspired to create their own Art whilst they’re here,” Douglas said.
