Janice Annette Goss, 77, passed Aug. 8, 2017, her loving family by her side after battling a long illness.

Janice was born on Nov. 20, 1939, in Shawnee to Daniel Ray and Lynna (Gertude) Vaughn Ray. She attend Shawnee Public School until seventh grade. Then she moved to Dale and graduated from Dale Public School. After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Baptist University, where she received a bachelor degree in education. She loved her children and family. She made sure they were always taken care of and she loved them to the moon and back. Mom would do anything and everything for us at anytime no matter the situation.

One of her greatest loves was her teaching career. She taught two years at Oden High School in Oden, Arkansas, and an amazing 32 years at Dale Public School. She taught fifth grade for three generations of students and loved every minute of it. She was a proud member of Alpha Delta Cappa — Chapter Epsilon in Shawnee for 50 years. After moving to Oklahoma City she was a member of The Alliance and The Registry for 10 years or more. Another passion was giving to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Gertude Ray.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law: Lynna and Ducan Taylor of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law: Chad and Toni Goss of Bethel Acres; sister: LaDon Ray Maloy of Oklahoma City; grandkids: Kyle and Bryce McElrath of Bethel Acres; great-grandchild Georgey. called her Nicee. She also had a host of nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.

Following our mother's wishes there will be a gravesite service only at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Dale Cemetery. Pastor Russel Curry of Dale United Methodist Church, where she was lifelong member, will officiate the service. A celebration of life will follow immediately at the Dale United Methodist Church.
