Lois Leota (McCormick) Stewart, 82, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in Midwest City.

Lois Leota (McCormick) Stewart, 82, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in Midwest City.

She was born Sept. 8, 1934, to Harlin J. and Lona Esther (Chaffin) McCormick in Talihina, Oklahoma.

Leota was raised in Stringtown and was a graduate of Springtown High School. She lived in several towns in Oklahoma, most recently in Tecumseh.

She married Hershal Ivon Stewart on April 6, 1990, in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2017.

Leota worked as an office assistant at Brooks Construction until her retirement. She also worked at Morris Plan and the Sylvania Plant.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh where she was very involved with the church. Leota enjoyed mowing the yard and was well known in the community for her yard mowing. She loved indulging in good food and attending family functions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershal Stewart; her parents, Harlin and Lona McCormick; two sisters, Katherine Stewart and Jackie Gunter.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in- law, Bradley and Ronda Stark of Shawnee; three granddaughters, Amber and Boston Walker of Moore, Oklahoma, Alanna and Kent Grigg of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Courtney Stark of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Caden McCalister, Brenlee McCalister, Kulton Garrett of Moore, and Avery Grigg of Cushing; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harlin and Meda McCormick of Farmers Branch, Texas, Vernon and Wilda McCormick of McAlester, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and James Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; other loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 13, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, with family gathering from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to receive friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, at First Assembly of God in Tecumseh with Pastor Don Jonker, First Assembly of God in Tecumseh, officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
