STONEWALL — Cooper Hunt excelled on the mound and at the plate Monday as Dale mauled Stonewall 11-2 in a game stopped after five innings on the run rule.
Hunt surrendered six hits, fanned three and didn’t permit walk in five innings. One of Stonewall’s runs was unearned.
Hunt also went 2 of 3 with a home run, three runs scored and two runs batted in as the leadoff batter.
David Herring, who was hitting in the 2-hole, went 3 for 4 with a roundtripper. He scored three runs and drove in three runs.
Gant Hathcock banged out two doubles for the Pirates while teammate Bryce Crawford delivered a double and a single. Hathcock drove in two runs.
Dale accumulated 10 hits. Stonewall was guilty of four errors.
Dale scored in all five innings, including a three-spot in the second and a four-spot in the fifth.
The Pirates will be on the again today verss Tupelo, then compete in the Roff Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
