The Cops N' Kids event will be held at Woodland Park Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1-4 p.m. The event is meant to bring members of local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies and the youth of Shawnee together.

The Cops N' Kids event will be held at Woodland Park Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1-4 p.m. The event is meant to bring members of local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies and the youth of Shawnee together.

“Come join us for a family orientated event that will bring the community and law enforcement together,” Cpl. Vivian Lozano-Stafford said.

The first 500 kids will receive a free T-shirt upon check in.

On the day of the event, attendees should check in to receive a free shirt, goodie bag, wristband to the Shawnee Splash and scavenger hunt card. Check in is on Broadway, south of Highland Street.

McGruff, Sparky and other law enforcement mascots will make an appearance.

Hot dogs, chips, cookies and water will be provided. Kona Ice will be providing free shaved ice.

There will be a bike rodeo and routine bike maintenance provided. Kids are encouraged to bring their own bicycle. Other events include a dunk tank, petting zoo, sack races, face painting and smoke house.

The fire department also will be doing car seat checks. The Red Cross will be taking names for those in need of smoke detectors.
