NEWCASTLE — Bethel’s quest to move over the .500 mark was waylaid 2-0 by Newcastle Tuesday.
The Lady Wildcats (5-6) were limited to one hit, a double by Mya Green, in seven innings.
Bethel was also limited to three walks — one each by Rian Gamble, Reanna McGowen and Jordyn Zachary.
Newcastle scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Zachary, the tough-luck pitching loser, surrendered only three hits in six innings.
Both of Newcastle’s runs were earned as Zachary fanned eight batters and walked two.
Bethel will begin play Thursday at the Shawnee Tournament at FireLake.
