• Have fun a Cops N' Kids — The Cops N' Kids event will be held at Woodland Park Saturday from 1-4 p.m. The event is meant to bring members of local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies and the youth of Shawnee together. The first 500 kids will receive a free T-shirt upon check in, along with a goodie bag, wristband to the Shawnee Splash and scavenger hunt card. Check in is on Broadway, south of Highland Street. McGruff, Sparky and other law enforcement mascots will make an appearance. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and water will be provided. Kona Ice will be providing free shaved ice. There also will be a bike rodeo and routine bike maintenance provided. Kids are encouraged to bring their own bicycle. Other events include a dunk tank, petting zoo, sack races, face painting and smoke house. The fire department also will be doing car seat checks. The Red Cross will be taking names for those in need of smoke detectors.

• Join the BlueZones kickoff: The Blue Zones kickoff event will be held at the Shawnee Performing Arts and Athletic Center on August 26th. • Bethel Reunion slated: The Bethel alumni reunion will be at the Bethel cafeteria Saturday. Dinner is at 6 p.m. There will be a campus tour. The cost will be $12 for adults with a reservation, $15 for adults with no reservation, $10 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for children age 4 and younger.
