The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind county motorists that the National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Mobilization kicked off on August 16 and will continue through September 3. Deputies will be patrolling diligently along with other agencies within the county to keep citizens and the roadways safe.
The National Highway Safety Administration reported in 2015 that there were 10,265 fatalities in the United States in drunk driving crashes. This is a 3.2% increase from 2014. This includes 181 children age 14 or younger killed in 2015.
The Sheriff’s Office asks for the public's help in reducing these numbers. Have a plan if consuming alcohol, and have a great holiday. For more information on the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization, or to find ways to stay safe on the roadway, visit NHTSA’s website, or contact the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.
