A Shawnee man who is charged with first-degree murder, deliberate intent, in connection with a January shooting death was expected to face trial next month but his case has been continued until Dec. 19.
Antonio Maurice Sambrano, 19, is charged in Pottawatomie County District Court; he remains jailed in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center.
Sambrano is accused in the shooting death of Isaiah Anthony Harjo, 27. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded Harjo died of a gunshot wound to the chest, with manner of death listed as a homicide.
The shooting occurred Jan. 4 at Chapel Ridge Apartments, 130 E. 45th Street. In the moments after the shooting, several nearby locations, including Shawnee Middle School, Gordon Cooper Technology Center and even a local daycare center, were put on lockdown.
