Betty Sue Goforth, lovingly known as “Susie” by her family and friends, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at the age of 71.

Betty Sue Goforth, lovingly known as “Susie” by her family and friends, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at the age of 71.

She was born May 5, 1946, in Rogers, Arkansas, to her parents, Charles and Bernice (Gray) Gastineau. Susie was raised in the south Oklahoma City area along with her two brothers and two sisters. Susie graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1965.

In 1967, Susie married Jim Goforth, and they spent 33 years of marriage together until his passing in November of 2000. Susie worked for Western Electric for a number of years until her retirement in '99. Susie was a very active member at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Shawnee. She made rosaries by hand for the church and helped prepare meals and assisted with church functions. Susie also loved animals and especially horses. She was active with the Miniature Horse Club and was also the secretary for many years. She showed horses for a number of years and had a national champion horse "Cuttter."Anybody that was around Susie knew that animals were her life although she also loved her family dearly.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, daughter, Dawn Renee Goforth, and brother Charlie Jr.

She is survived by her sisters, "Char" Kozak and husband Frank, and Loretta and husband Tim Colley, brother, Steve Gastineau and his wife DeeAnn, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Viewing will be 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Vondel Smith Mortuary South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73173.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Moore City Cemetery – Moore.
