Shawnee's Marketplace's final lot is officially spoken for, as Discount Tire has filed a permit with the Planning office.

On Wednesday Planning Director Justin DeBruin said it's really good news.

“We're closed out on Phase One of Shawnee Marketplace at this point and exploring our options for the remainder of the Marketplace property to the south,” he said.

DeBruin said also the city is planning to partner with the Commissioners of the Land Office to explore some development options — roughly 300 acres west of the Marketplace that stretch to Leo Street along the south side of Interstate 40.

“We're looking at options there for some mixed development use,” he said.
