Kris Martin Ludlum, 61, of Lakeside, California, passed away Aug. 18, 2017, at Kaiser Zion Hospital in San Diego, California.

Born and raised in Shawnee, he attended high school in Boise, Idaho, and returned to Oklahoma to attend college at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in business management.

He married Gayla Estus in 1977.

He is survived by his wife and three children and their spouses: Kimberly Panico (Steve), Kasey Pitchford (Ryan), and Kyle Ludlum (Sheena) as well as eight grandchildren: Alexis Panico, Nathan Panico, Sienna Panico, Brooklyn Pitchford, Brenna Pitchford, Karter Ludlum, Kash Ludlum, and Koen Ludlum. He is also survived by his brother Kim from Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Thelma Ludlum, and grandson Kruise Ludlum.

Kris retired from Bayer Pharmaceuticals. He loved to play golf with his wife, and he was very active in the Santee/El Cajon/Lakeside Eagles, serving as secretary/treasurer for ten years. He coached little league at Mission Trails and Lakeside National and really enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Kris was truly ‘one of a kind,’ someone larger than life... a man who would do anything to help another, who lit up any room he entered, and who always left them laughing. He was a legend within his community of family and friends who will never forget him.

A celebration of life will be held at Sycuan Golf Resort on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.
