Peggy M. Rider, 81, of Norman, passed from this life Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at her home.

Peggy M. Rider, 81, of Norman, passed from this life Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at her home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1936, to Daniel Alonzo and Mary Ethel (Bishop) Niece in Horatio, Arkansas.

Peggy grew up in the Brendle area and attended grade school in Brendle and finished high school at Norman and Tecumseh. She lived in Colorado, California and Texas before recently making her home in the Little Axe area.

She married Ralph Rider on Feb. 2, 1954, in Marshall.

Peggy worked on an assembly line in Houston and Kansas City as a quality inspector for Westinghouse and as a secretary for an insurance agency before working with Ralph in their Hotshot business as a truck driver.

She was a member of Countryside Church in Bethel Acres and loved her church family. Peggy enjoyed working in her flower beds, going deer hunting, driving fast and going on motorcycle rides with her family. She loved her family very much and served as the family peacemaker.

She was preceded in death her parents, Daniel and Mary Niece; three brothers, Daniel Lonzo Niece Jr., Sonny Niece and Donny Niece; and three sisters, Lori Ann Nelson, Bonnie Ethel Chandler and Linda Sue Niece.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 63 years, Ralph A. Rider of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn Elaine Gordon of Norman, OK, Nancy Lavonne and Jim Scott of Cedaredge, Colorado, Debra Lynn and Rick Warner of Norman; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Ruth Evelyn Myer, Goldie Alice Williams and Joy Gilpin; one brother, Robert Lee Niece; and other loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, and continue through service time. Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, at Countryside Church with Pastor Dennis Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
