Shawnee city sales tax collections are up for September, compared to the same month a year ago.

Cindy Arnold, finance director and city treasurer, reports the September sales tax check received this month was $1,493,327, which is $2,491 or .17 percent higher than September 2016 of $1,490,836.

“For the year, we are up 2.09 percent, which is slightly below what we budgeted for,” she said. “We need to remember to Shop Shawnee as much as much as possible to keep the sales tax steady.”

Use Tax deposit in September was $89,471 — up $1,786 from last year, she said.

“This is not a big difference from last year, but the September 2016 payment has some one-time payments,” Arnold said. “This month is normally a low month.”
