Dale took an early lead and blew the game open late in a 9-1 win over Class B No. 5 Tupelo.

The Class A No. 4 Pirates improved to 23-4 behind 5 solid innings by Blake McQuain. Bryce Crawford finished the game on the hill for the Pirates.

McQuain allowed one unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

David Herring and Drew Reed each went 3-for-4 at the plate. Herring drove in two runs and scored twice. Reed drove in one and scored once.

Cooper Hunt also scored twice and Austin Custar drove in two runs in the win.

Gant Hathcock started the scoring for Dale in the first after Herring led the game off with a double and made it to third on a fielder's choice. Hathcock hit a sacrifice fly to plate Herring.

Dale loaded the bases in the second with two walks and a batter hit by a pitch. Herring doubled to drive in two and give Dale a 3-0 early lead.

Scout Capps started a fifth inning rally with a single. Reed doubled to put two in scoring position and Cooper Hunt singled to score Capps. Custar's 2-RBI single made the score 6-1.

Dale finished up with three more in the sixth to end the game.
