St. Gregory’s University will host its 2017 Homecoming on Sept. 30. The public is invited to join the students and staff for the celebration, which will take place on St. Gregory’s campus in Shawnee.

Homecoming will start at 11:30 a.m. The day will begin with women’s soccer, followed by men’s soccer at 1 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m., and at 5:15 p.m., the students from different organizations on campus will compete in bed races.

There will be a barbecue dinner and beer garden at 5:45.

The homecoming court will be presented at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a Warren Peace concert for the rest of the evening.

“We are excited for this Homecoming celebration,” Lilly Bermudez, SGU Dean of Students, said. “Especially because it will be student- and staff-focused. I love how in all things we do at St. Gregory's, our Lord Jesus Christ is at the center. This is why the evening celebrations begin with Holy Mass.

“Come join the fun, and remember to come and cheer for the soccer games in the afternoon!”

St. Gregory’s University was established in 1875, and is Oklahoma’s only Catholic university. It has a liberal arts curriculum based on the Benedictine tradition of educating the mind, body and spirit.
