Carmelita Corena (Coker) Palmer departed this life on Wednesday evening, Sept. 27, 2017, in Shawnee at the age of 77 years.

Carmelita Corena (Coker) Palmer departed this life on Wednesday evening, Sept. 27, 2017, in Shawnee at the age of 77 years.

She was born May 4, 1940, in Wewoka to the late Harry Lewis Coker and Myrtle Faye Ward Williams.

She was a member of the Seminole tribe and the Tom Palmer band.

Carmelita was a graduate of Sasakwa high school and after graduation worked as a clerk for OG & E for a number of years. Her hobbies were shopping, sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding Carmelita in death are her parents and one son, Kevin Palmer.

Those to cherish her memories are children, Alexander Palmer of Oklahoma City, Alicia Palmer of Shawnee, Gregory Palmer and wife Angel of Shawnee, and Jason Palmer, also of Shawnee: nine grandchildren Michelle Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Tyler Palmer, Jarod Palmer, Nicole Palmer, Victoria Palmer, Derek Palmer, Josie Palmer, and Taylor Palmer; two great-grandchildren; one brother Roy Gene Williams of Oklahoma City, and numerous relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Richard Clifton, Billy Clifton, Chad Ward, Sean Ward, Jarod Palmer, and Bryan McKeel.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, and interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
