Jack Boyd “J.B.” Hammons, 76, of Tulsa, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, after a brief illness.

A private service was held for the family on Friday, Sept. 29, with burial at Calvary Cemetery.

He was born in Watertown, New York, to Jack and Jean Hammons. He grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Kemper Military School in Booneville, Missouri. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Science in Business.

J.B. served as a division officer at the Naval Air Facility in China Lake, California.

In 1966, he married Mary K. Test.

After his discharge from the military, they moved to Oklahoma City and later to Tulsa. He then worked as a district sales manager for Pepperidge Farm and as a food broker. In their retirement years, the couple traveled extensively to Europe and the Caribbean.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter, Julie Treat, and her husband, Rod, and two grandsons, Drew and Josh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill.
