Shawnee business House of Flowers will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a free community celebration on Thursday, Oct. 12. The Platinum Party will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at House of Flowers, located at 2425 N. Kickapoo in Shawnee.

Shawnee business House of Flowers will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a free community celebration on Thursday, Oct. 12. The Platinum Party will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at House of Flowers, located at 2425 N. Kickapoo in Shawnee.

The celebration is set to feature an array of family-friendly activities, live music, shopping and food trucks. In addition, House of Flowers will unveil their new building mural by local artist group NoArt • NoTalent • NoFun.

“House of Flowers first opened in Shawnee in 1947 and since then, our quaint flower shop on Kickapoo has become a community staple for fresh florals and unique gifts,” said Marta Land, House of Flowers owner. “We hope everyone will join us at our Platinum Party Oct. 12 to commemorate this joyous occasion as we cheers to our next 70 years. It’s sure to be a magical evening of fun and friends!”

Live music will be performed by Harley Hamm and Jimmy Jamm. Several food trucks will be onsite serving up delicious food and drinks including Kona Ice of Pottawatomie County, The Healthy Hippo, Murphy’s Cookshack and A Latte Love Coffeehouse.

Children and adults of all ages will enjoy yard games, arts and crafts, face painting and rock painting. Inside the shop, guests can check out the Fall Fudge Flavor Poll and browse merchandise from House of Flowers as well as local vendors Kiss Me Clearly and Crochet by Maddy.

Attendees will be able to visit several community service project booths at the event including Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County, South Central Industries Inc., Rotary Club of Shawnee, Shawnee Kiwanis Club, Shawnee OK Lions Club and Blue Zones Project Pottawatomie County.

The Platinum Party will also feature a variety of drawings for gift certificates, OBU football tickets, fresh arrangements, succulent fairy gardens and more. Each party guests will receive a succulent planter party favor with special coupon as supplies last as well as a slice of celebratory cake.
