Vicki June Duff, 65, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, after a battle with pneumonia and multiple complications thereof.

She was born June 27, 1952, to Betty (Beal) Briggs and Vilas Briggs in Seminole.

Vicki was a 1970 graduate of Seminole High School. She attended Seminole Junior College, where she earned her associate's degree.

She married Jerry Thomas Duff on Oct. 8, 1971, in Shawnee. After marriage, they lived and served in the U.S. Army in Budingen, West Germany, for a year and upon returning to the states, made their home in Shawnee where they have since lived and raised their family.

While in high school, Vicki ran the projector at the Seminole theaters. After graduating high school, she began working for B & M Cycle where she met the love of her life.

She began her career at COJC in 1975, then known as Girls Town. After 10 years as a house parent, she transferred to security for 10 years then to the records department as an administrative assistant where she retired after 35 years of service to the state of Oklahoma. During this time, she also worked part time for the Seminole Advocate as a journalist and was a photographer for the Shawnee Sun and County-Wide News.

She had an unyielding passion for photography. She carried her camera with her everywhere and believed her super power was freezing time. She spent many hours on the sidelines and in the darkroom developing memories for friends, family and strangers alike.

She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards with her family, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vilas Briggs and Betty Beal Briggs; Uncle, Bill Cleek; special cousin, Randy Cleek; and brother-in-law, Bill McGowan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 46 years, Jerry Duff of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Raven Duff; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Byron Talton, all of Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Allie Duff, Branden Duff, Jordyn Bailey, Callie Haney, Brooklyn Duff, Savannah Talton and Tanner Duff; sister, Becky McGowan; sister-in-law, Janice Cummins; aunt, Ramona Cleek; special cousin, Terri Santiago and her husband Don; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family and friends.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers for Vicki; please make a donation in her name to the Youth and Family Resource Center of Shawnee or to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oklahoma City. They were her favorite charities as she loved the good works these fine organizations do for all Oklahomans.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with James Andrew McGowan officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
