St. Gregory’s University is opening its theatre season at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 5, with the classic comedy “The Importance of Being Earnest.” Performances will take place at Sarkeys Performing Arts Center on St. Gregory’s campus in Shawnee.

Written by Oscar Wilde, “The Importance of Being Earnest” follows English country gentlemen Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff as they take on alternate identities in an effort to woo the women they love.

Additional performances of “Earnest” run Oct. 6-7 at 7:30 p.m.and on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children and can be purchased at the door before each performance.
