Greetings in this beautiful weather, with the gentle breeze bringing piles and piles of leaves across the yard! It is with great anticipation awaiting for Mr. Jack Frost to appear upon the fall scene, in order to bring out all the orange and brown colors of fall, upon the horizon!

Before I go any further, it is with great empathy, love and prayers, for all involved in the Las Vegas tragedy. But, also for those living in the aftermath of the Puerto Rico hurricane.

We have so many tragedies, that needs our prayers. It seems we focus on one spot for prayers, and turn the news on or read our daily newspaper, which draws our attention to another tragic incident. All those situation have taken our attention off of those high paid football players that did not want to honor our flag or prayers. They need our prayers!

Then, flooding on the Florida coastal area, and then, Cuba. Next, came such tragedy to Puerto Rico. All of these topics brings a shadow of sadness across our great Nation. It makes one wonder, “Lord, are You drawing our attention to call out to You, for all our needs and these tragic events.?”

It seems on a daily basis that tragedy has been reported, lately, every time we turn on our television news. With so many people needing our prayers, that it makes me often think of when our church houses were full of people praying, when tragedies occurred. I am sure that some of you Savvy Seniors can recall those years from thirties through 1900’s.

Those of you, that are my age, have seen our children grow up in safe neighborhoods and that it was safe to travel anywhere and go to large events. Now, our grands and great grands, have more than our children ever had, and even have bank accounts opened for them as soon as they are named! Our wisdom from the past has encouraged us to teach these loved one to be saving, as those past challenges have left indelible marks upon our lives.

But, the saving accounts are more scarce now, as mine opened accounts when they were in elementary school. And, the safe neighborhoods that let those same children walk to town, play all over the neighborhood, with out any worries, are now bygone days. What a shame, that our society has made such radical changes.

I wonder if God is trying to get out attention, as we sit and view these tragedies on our television programs? Just remember, God keeps his Royal Telephone line open twenty-four/seven.

Psalms 46:1 - “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
