Construction crews continue work on the interior of the new Pottawatomie County Museum.

The building will be named the Paul and Ann Milburn Center. Once inside facing north, the Nancy Bodard Hall will house several of the museum's exhibits.

To the east is the Cleo L. Craig Children's Area. The west wing will consist of the Sarah Dudley Conference and Research Centers as well as the Brooks/Akin area.

The main entrance, or Gene Rainbolt Foyer, will be on the south side of the building. Once inside there will be a display of all donors, the Craig Theater and several office buildings.

The museum is being built on property to the north of the Santa Fe Depot along Minnesota Street between 9th and 10th Streets in Shawnee.

Once completed, the 12,572 square foot building will have a conference room, a full kitchen and a genealogy center. With addition room available at the new facility, the museum will be able to accept more donations for display.

To help build the museum, the late Paul Milburn, while serving as an executive committee member, offered a $500,000 grant for the society to match through donations.
