Jury selection was held Monday in Pottawatomie County District Court Monday for an Earlsboro man charged with soliciting first-degree murder.

Lawrence Raymond Silver Jr., 57, is standing trial in the felony case originally filed in January 2017.

Silver was arrested on a $1 million warrant after he allegedly offered to pay a jail inmate to kill a witness connected to his court case, documents show.

Silver is accused, on or between May 1, 2016 and Jan. 19, 2017, at the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center, of soliciting another inmate to kill the witness by first-degree murder.

This week's trial is being held before District Judge John Canavan. Watch for updates.
