Shawnee city sales tax collections are down for November, compared to the same month a year ago.

Cindy Arnold, finance director and city treasurer, reports the November sales tax check received this month was $1,412,195 — $56,091 or 3.82 percent lower than November 2016 of $1,468,286.

“For the year, we are up 1.52 percent, which is slightly below what we budgeted for,” Arnold said.

To date, the total Use Tax collected is $125.252 –– up $12.26 percent compared to November 2016, when $111,647 was received.

Arnold urged residents to remember to shop Shawnee as much as possible to keep sales tax steady.

Pottawatomie County's sales tax collections for November showed a decrease in revenue over November 2016. Treasurer Wendy Magnus reported this month's collections totaled $603,618.84, down from the same month a year ago when $653,487.55 was received –– a decrease of $49,868.71.
