Sophomore Jaxon Bond, playing in his first varsity game, poured in 26 points Tuesday night to lift Seminole to an 80-59 season-launching victory over Harding Charter.

SEMINOLE — Sophomore Jaxon Bond, playing in his first varsity game, poured in 26 points Tuesday night to lift Seminole to an 80-59 season-launching victory over Harding Charter.

Bond knocked down seven 3-point field goals, five coming in the second quarter as Seminole outscored the visitors 26-11. Seminole held a 40-19 halftime lead.

Dayton Jackson added 17 points for the Chieftains while teammates Adam Nance and Trevor Brinker put in 10 and nine,

respectively.

“We played a pretty complete game,” Seminole second-year coach Josh Edenborough said. “We have a lot of room to improve, but it was a good starting point.”

Cayman McKinney had 17 points for Harding Charter.

Girls

Lauren Cole hit a close-range bank shot at the final buzzer to give Harding Charter a 37-36 win over Seminole.

Seminole missed two free throws with :08 left, setting up the game-winning shot.

Seminole led 20-8 at the half but the visitors cut the deficit to 30-22 entering the final period, then outscored the hosts 15-6 down the stretch.

Abby Carter and MaKayla Harge led Seminole in scoring with 11 points apiece. Carter was 4 of 4 from the line to go along with six steals. The rest of the Seminole squad went 3 of 17 from the charity stripe. Harding Charter wasn’t much better at the line at 7 of 17.

Lauren Cheatwood of Seminole was the game’s top rebounder with 13.

Satima Black topped Harding Charter with 12 points.

One of Seminole’s top players, junior Destre Harrison, tore her ACL over the summer and is out for the season.

Both Seminole teams will play Friday night at Holdenville.
