SHAWNEE - The Shawnee Wolves wrestling team won their first home duel of the season 39-20 against Stillwater Thursday night.
“It was a good win for a program,” Coach Larry James said. “This was a good team in Stillwater and we fought hard until the end. This was the first time we beat Stillwater in a long time.”
Donavan Bertram in the 145-pound division and Joseph George in the 152-pound division each earned pins.
Shawnee's Caleb Nahmahpeah defeated Henry Warren 6-0 in the 120 pound division.
In the 160-pound weight class, Shawnee's Xavier Grass won his match on points 10-7.
Chance Anders, Shawnee's 182-pound earned a first period pin over Stillwater's Sean Preston. Anders set the tone the rest of the way as Cade Powell followed up in the 195-pound division with first round pin over Stillwater's William Willis.
“Cade really stepped up and got a big pin late,” James said.
The Wolves' 220-pound participant, Coby Ezell continued Shawnee's momentum with a pin of Isaac Mesa.
Returning state qualifier, Isaac Bertram won his match via forfeit.
