James “Jimmy” Fly was born Aug. 17, 1944, to MD and Janice Fly, in Amarillo, Texas.

Jimmy was raised in Amarillo and graduated in 1962 from Amarillo High School. After moving to Oklahoma, he started working at Sparks Heat and Air in Shawnee, alongside good friend and sidekick Robin Rucker.

Jimmy had many enjoyments in life, whether it was golf or tinkering on his cars, spending time with Tooter, his dog of 17 years, taking care of his lawn, old vinyl records, beating his family at Cribbage or playing poker with his buddies. He also loved being on the water at his family home on Bogue Sound in North Carolina.

Preceding Jimmy in death are both his parents, his wife Deborah Gribble, and one sister, Iris Fly.

Left to mourn his passing are two sisters: Diane Dick, and Jo and husband Leslie Glancy; two brothers: JD and wife Annette Kirby, and Phillip Fly; and children: Peter and his wife Crystal Patterson, Cortney Fly, Shawn and wife Stormy Gribble, and Kristy and husband Justin Duty, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

The Fly family would like to extend a special thank you to his caretakers: Fallon Wilkerson, Tammy Wilkerson, Becky Peery, and ex-wife Claudia Patterson. Jimmy’s legacy will be remembered by a host of family and friends.

Service will be Monday, Dec. 4, at the Little Cemetery in Seminole at 2 p.m.

Services are entrusted to Brown’s Family Funeral Home in McLoud.
