Duane Jenkins was born and raised in Earlsboro and graduated from Earlsboro High School. This was a favorite source of memories his entire life. He returned to this area frequently throughout his entire life.

Duane Jenkins was born and raised in Earlsboro and graduated from Earlsboro High School. This was a favorite source of memories his entire life. He returned to this area frequently throughout his entire life.

His education included time at Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) and he obtained his BA and MA from Fresno State. Coming from an extended family that included a large number of educators, he was an elementary school teacher for 38 years. Throughout his lifetime, he was also involved with athletics. He coached and taught basketball, flag football, track, volleyball, softball and swimming for boys and girls from age 6 through high school. He himself was a gifted athlete.

Duane was also an active member of Lions Club International for many years. After retirement, he was involved with the Sierra Oaks Senior Center. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Bruce and Ollie Josephine Jenkins; his siblings: Joy (Jenkins) Mize, H.B. Jenkins, and Lynn Jenkins. They were residents of the Earlsboro area for many years.

Duane is survived by Lou Eve Jenkins, his wife of 64 years; his children Duane (Melva) Jenkins Jr. of Tijeras, New Mexico; Dana (Matt) Rickard of Turlock, California; Gil (Diana) Jenkins formerly of Selma, California; and Alana (Skip) Brown of Meridian; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who still live in the Earlsboro area.

His memorial service was held on Friday, Dec. 1, in Turlock, California.
