The Pottawatomie Alliance Towards Community Health (PATCH) is reminding fellow community members of preventative steps they can take as the holiday season begins. For many, that means having family members visit. Put medicines up and away, out of sight and reach of young children, keep medication in the original bottle with the label attached and the child resistant cap on and secured, keep track of where medications are and how many. Also, offer a safe location for guests to put their medications if they are staying overnight. Lock boxes are a great resource. Holidays should be a time to spend with family and friends, not having to tend to an emergency. While cleaning the house and preparing for guests, remember to put medication in a secure location.
