District 2 Commissioner Randy Thomas and his road and bridge maintenance crew moved into their new home last Friday.
“This is a great addition to the district and to the county,” Commissioner Randy Thomas said. “We were in desperate need of a new building and this is exactly what we needed.”
The old building was demolished in March of 2017 and the new 6,800 square foot building was constructed in its place.
Prior to moving in to the new location, District 2 was leasing a building on U.S. 177 and Benson Park Road.
After a 2015 flood that damaged a significant amount of roads in the district, District 2 started a building fund with funds available from FEMA.
District 2 currently has 18 full-time employees.
Total cost of the new building was $403,000.
