Bruce Keith Daugherty was born in Pauls Valley on Feb. 19, 1956.

He passed from this life to be with his Savior Jan. 4, 2018, in the home he lived in for over 60 of the 61 years of his life. He struggled with several disabilities, especially in the last five years of his life with Heartland Hospice providing loving care to him and his family. A number of caregivers were such a blessing to Bruce and his family. A special thanks to Manette hair and her family as they were a tremendous blessing to Bruce in his last days.

Having lived in Shawnee his whole life, Bruce was well known for his sweet smile and loving nature. He also loved his Sunday School Class of Immanuel Baptist church and the gospel singing at the Shawnee Senior Center. Bruce had many loved ones and friends.

Bruce was one of the first people to attend the Faith Seven Workshop of Shawnee as a 6-year-old boy and learned and worked there for over 50 years. He loved being known as the “paper shredder.” When health issues made him unable to work any longer, he shredded paper for people in his home. This gave Bruce much joy. Bruce loved to serve the Gideon organization by stamping their hand out materials. Bruce did this meticulously for many years.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Alta V. and Marion Lucille Daugherty of Shawnee, grandparents John D. and Addie Alice Magruder of Seminole, and John Lorenzo and Alice May Daugherty of Pauls Valley. He has six living siblings. Carolyn Sue Jones, married to Freddie Lee Jones of Midwest City, Harold Gene Daugherty, married to Margaret Carolyn Daugherty of Shawnee, Mary Helen Weeks, married to William Herman Weeks Jr., Shirley Ann Alspaugh, married to Alan Russell Alspaugh of Melbourne, Florida, Linda Kay Wallace, married to David Lee Wallace of Balch Springs, Texas, and Kathy Eileen Mullican, married to Walter Lee Mullican of Bethany. He also has many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Jan. 7, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

The celebration of his life will be at Immanuel Baptist Church, located at 1451 E. 45 St., Shawnee, on Jan. 8, at 2 p.m., under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Gideon International organization by phone at 866-382-4253 or by cards which will be provided in the foyer of Immanuel Baptist Church.
