Willie Ray Houck, of Wanette, was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Floresville, Texas, to John Quincy and Ruby Houck.

Willie Ray Houck, of Wanette, was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Floresville, Texas, to John Quincy and Ruby Houck.

He passed away at his home in Wanette on Jan. 2, 2018, at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 3 days.

He spent time in California before moving to Wanette in 1966.

He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and served time in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

He was married to Vera Alene Wyatt and they owned and operated a restaurant and bar for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene, and four brothers, Clyde, John, Dub, and Cecil Houck.

Survivors include one daughter: Shirlene Sanders and husband Jerry, Wanette; two grandchildren: Robbie Sanders and wife Janet and B.J. Sanders all of Wanette; four great-grandchildren: Coleman and wife Ashlei, Tyler, Braydon, and Kaydence; one great-great-grandchild: Tobias Ray.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Alexander, Tim Suchey, Cliff Lowery, Bradley Pitts, Keith Meyers, and Myron Ely.

Services; 1 p.m., Friday Jan. 5, at DeArman/Pickard Funeral Chapel, Stratford, with Rev. Larry Landtroop officiating. Burial will be at Corley Cemetery south of Stratford.
