Shawnee city sales tax collections are up for January, compared to the same month a year ago.

Cindy Arnold, finance director and city treasurer, reports the January sales tax check received this month was up $14,558, or .9324 percent, higher than January 2017.

“For the year we are up 1.53 percent, which is slightly below what we budgeted for,” Arnold said.

Use Tax collected is $138,251 –– up $20,753 or 17.66 percent compared to January of 2017.

“Compared to last year, use tax is up $141,835, or 17.49 percent for the year,” Arnold said.

County

Pottawatomie County's sales tax collections for January showed an increase in revenue over January 2017. Treasurer Wendy Magnus reported this month's collections totaled $661,810.85, up from the same month a year ago when $654,101.19 was received –– an increase of $7,709.66.
