The Shawnee Lady Wolves advanced to the semi-finals of the 2018 Shawnee Invitational with a 38-22 win over McAlester. Shawnee will take on 5A No. 7 El Reno who beat NW Classen 72-34 in the first game of the tournament.

The Shawnee Lady Wolves advanced to the semi-finals of the 2018 Shawnee Invitational with a 38-22 win over McAlester. Shawnee will take on 5A No. 7 El Reno who beat NW Classen 72-34 in the first game of the tournament.

The Lady Wolves beat El Reno 44-34 earlier in the season and they will host the Lady Indians again on Jan. 26.

Both teams started slow, but Shawnee managed to score the first eight points of the game. Monica Brooks had six of her team high 10 points in the first quarter.

Makyra Tramble only had two points in the first quarter, but she knocked down a pair of three-pointers to help the Lady Wolves open a 24-9 halftime lead. Tramble also had 10 points in the game.

Kasey Rice, who scored nine for Shawnee, dropped six points in the second and three more in the third before being pulled to allow younger players to finish the game.

The Lady Wolves led 29-11 after three and finished a 38-22.

In addition to Brooks and Tramble with 10 and Rice with 9, Jasmine Martinez scored five and Emily Hudson and Alesia Thomas each scored two.

The Lady Wolves play in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday.
