A Norman man died in a rollover crash Friday night on Interstate 40 near McLoud, according to a report released early Saturday morning by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. in the westbound lanes at Arena Road in Pottawatomie County.

A 2001 Toyota 4Runner driven by Gregory Judd, 52, of Norman, was westbound on Interstate 40, the OHP said.

The vehicle departed the roadway to the right and drove through the ditch before continuing through a fence and hitting a tree. The SUV rolled 3.5 times, striking another tree, the OHP said, before it rotated 180 degrees and came to rest on its side. The driver was partially ejected through the sunroof, the patrol noted.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by REACT EMS personnel.

The driver's condition at the time of the accident and cause of the crash is under investigation by OHP.

Seat belts were not in use.
