The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to a call early Tuesday morning on Melissa Lane west of McLoud that resulted in a man taken into custody on multiple charges.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to a call early Tuesday morning on Melissa Lane west of McLoud that resulted in a man taken into custody on multiple charges.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said Thomas Andrew Phipps, 32 allegedly held the woman against her will after she came over for a visit.

Her hands and feet were zip tied to the bed and Phipps pulled out a BB gun and threatened her, Booth said.

She was able to get free from the restraints and ran to a neighbor's house to call for help, Booth said.

Phipps confronted the woman once again and the neighbor was able to scare off Phipps before he started to walk down Melissa Lane, Booth said.

Shortly after, the McLoud Police Department were able to apprehend Phipps, Booth said.

Phipps is currently being held at the Pottawatomie County Safety Center on complaints of kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. Formal charges have not been filed.

Phipps is also a registered sex offender in Pottawatomie County, according to the Sheriff's website.
