Republican gubernatorial candidate Todd Lamb visited Shawnee Wednesday, January 24th to meet with business and community leaders regarding his plan and vision for Oklahoma.
Lamb was hosted by former Mayor Chuck Mills who is chairman of Lamb's Economic Diversification Campaign Committee. Lamb began the day by touring Georg Fischer Plastics where he met employees and discussed the need for more skilled labor within the Oklahoma workforce. Lamb then visited with OBU President David Whitlock where the pair discussed higher education issues, including the OTEG initiative which provides subsidies to students who elect to go to private Oklahoma colleges.
A lunch with community leaders followed where Lamb outlined his RENEW Oklahoma plan and his short and long term vision for Oklahoma. Lamb answered questions from the attendees, including his thoughts on the Step Up Oklahoma initiative recently announced by statewide business leaders. He also provided his thoughts and insight into how to best aid rural economic development. Lamb's day concluded with visits to Shawnee Mills, St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital, and Global Production Solutions.
Mills said, "It was a pleasure to host Todd Lamb in Shawnee, and to introduce him to many of our wonderful community and county leaders. I firmly believe he has the experience and vision to lead Oklahoma as our next governor, and perhaps most importantly, he has a detailed plan and the leadership skills to carry it out. I am honored to support him and thank him for visiting Shawnee and Pottawatomie County.
