One person is dead at the scene of what was reported as an officer-involved shooting earlier today near Pink.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth confirmed a suspect is dead inside a home and that Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Troop Z is conducting the investigation.

While Booth said they believe they know the decedent is 40-year-old Ricky L. Rusche, a Department of Corrections escapee, the sheriff said it will be up to the state medical examiner to confirm that ID.

Booth said the events that culminated Tuesday began about a month ago involving a DOC escapee from Oklahoma County.

After a previous sighting in that area, deputies, along with U.S. Marshals, determined Tuesday there was a high probability the suspect was in the area so they checked a house and that led them to another house.

As that search commenced, the team confronted the suspect and shots were fired, the sheriff said.

At this point in the investigation, shell casings and evidences are still being collected and officers are being interviewed. Booth said they don't know yet who shot where.

Two other suspects, both with outstanding arrest warrants, also were found at the location, Booth said.

At this point, Troop Z of OHP is leading the investigation, but numerous agencies are involved because of the case involving members of the warrant team and U.S. Marshals.
