Dirt work continued at the future home of First United Bank on the corner of Harrison Street and MacArthur Tuesday.

The former home to Joe Cooper Ford was recently demolished to make room for the new bank.

The construction documents should be completed by the end of February with the bidding process starting soon after, Paul Bass, President of First United Bank said.

Along with the new location, the bank will have added features.

“One of the things I am most excited about is the community space that will be used for training purposes and we will have the ability to host business conferences,” Bass said. “The new bank will also be as environmentally friendly and efficient as possible.”

When construction is completed, the location at 912 East Independence will close, Bass said.
