The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show (PCJLS) hosted a Pig Roast and Trophy Auction fundraiser at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center Monday evening.

Area FFA students helped serve the meal during the fundraiser.

Suzanne Gilbert said it was an outstanding evening for FFA and 4-H students, with about 650 people fed. The Live Auction brought $35,850 and the Silent Auction brought $3,180 for a total of $39,030.

“Thanks to all the supporters tonight we are up from last year a little over $5,000,” Gilbert said, adding it was a good night for everyone and outstanding job of the PCJLS Committee.

In 2004, the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show committee established a scholarship to assist in further education of the show participants.

To date, the organization has raised over $68,000 and helped countless area students further their education.

The PCJLS will host its annual livestock show on Feb. 27 through March 2 at the Expo Center.
