Carolyn Suzanne Rizzo, 71, of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away Feb. 9, 2018.

She was born Dec. 14, 1946, to Joseph Rizzo and Syble (Tinker) Rizzo in St Louis, Missouri. Later, the family moved to Tecumseh, where she attended Tecumseh Public Schools, graduating in 1964.

While in Tecumseh, Carolyn met and married Ronnie Hurst. She attended beauty school and worked as a beautician before pastoring Tecumseh Pentecostal Church of God for 14 years with her husband, Ronnie.

Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family and laughing. She had a great sense of humor and was an incredible story teller. She had a way of bringing any story to life, while keeping her audience on the edge of their seat, waiting for the next detail that would surely have them laughing hysterically. Although very proud of her ornery side, Carolyn was very loving and accepting of those whose path crossed hers. She loved her family and supported them in everything they did. Her listening ear, encouraging words of wisdom, and quick wit will surely be missed and remembered by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Joseph Rizzo of St Louis; step father, Chancey “Chubb” Stapp; infant sister, Nancy Stapp; two sons, Randon Rizzo and Rhanson Hurst; and one daughter, Rachel Hurst, all of Tecumseh.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Deniese Barnett, of Tecumseh; children, Travis Hurst, of Shawnee, Ronell Talley, of Shawnee, Raquel Matheson, of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kyle Talley of Shawnee, Blake Webb and partner, Darin Morgan, of Greenwood, Josey Brown, of Brooklyn, New York, Braiden Green and husband, Bo, Savannah Hurst, Baylor Hurst, all of Shawnee, A’Meena Rizzo, of Moore, Macy Phillips, of Tecumseh, Gracelynd Matheson, of Moore; and seven great-grandchildren, Jayden Green, of Shawnee, Jaxi Brown, of Brooklyn, Kaleb and Christian Webb-Morgan, of Greenwood, Jett Green, of Shawnee, Amiliyan Lancaster, Anthony Rizzo, and Amiyah Howell, all of Moore, and many friends and extended family.

A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, at Faith Christian Outreach in Shawnee with Rev. Travis Hurst officiating.
